"Mineshaft" By: Erickson
-
A natural response to
shelter.
Instead of vocalizing desire to strangers
Exist in an
endless cocoon.
-
Wooden beam cracks - your support.
Breath like resources, thin.
-
The hives will swarm in flocks
Gossip about a crumb of food
But I just tilt my head
Curate my thoughts to a sharpened mood.
-
They scatter, like dropping a tub of
M&Ms. Little feet fly, Tik Tik Tik Tik Tik
Dark pebbles skip on Black Seas.
-
I desire my life to be pointed
Like my razor pickaxe - exoskeleton spine -
Some cringe at my eight legs
But honey, your cringe is mine.
-
Black smears on my cheek - battle.
Ballooning purple eyes - intentional.
-
There's a beauty in the feeling of ants
The squito swirling a man made ear
An uneven, unique experience -
Against popping radio music - which memory sears.
-
Alice knew the allure. The winding
path down. Emerge.
Night vision goggles - directed - sun.
-
Do not forget my crunch.
Or the wings that bloom from mine.
I'm a diamond to the eye,
For only parts of me have died
In the coal mines.
